Man & Wife

So after a very long day of work yesterday, I crawled up three flights of stairs and into my apt, where I threw on a hoodie, some socks, and sat down to watch some TV. I'd missed the first airing of Mad Men, but didn't see it on again at 11pm, so I watched MTV instead. That retarded Paris Needs A Friend show had gone off and now something new was coming on. Apparently, Fatman Scoop and wife Shanda have been running a podcast of sorts, talking about sex, relationships, and love. I guess MTV decided to take them to the big time. Thus Man & Wife was born.

Actually I was sorta hesitant to watch it at first, because it looked kind of shitty, but once I gave it a chance, I liked it! Basically Scoop and Shanda are sitting in this huge bed on stage talking to an audience. Members of the audience can come up and ask queshes on the mic and they answer them. Sometimes people submit queries through video or voicemail submissions. It's completely impromptu and interactive, plus it talks about sex, and all those make for good TV! Scoop answers all questions from a male point of view (hit it and quit it) and Shanda makes up for it with her insightful emotion based answers. I kinda love this show. Last night they talked about the need for communication in a relationship, buying a dildo, and how to get out of having a threesome. It's genius, rly.

Peep the emotional connections on MTV, Monday through Thursday at 11pm.

Nope. Not Okay. Not Even A Little. Yep. Nope.

I do not like Pete Wentz. Those who come in close contact with me on a mildly daily basis know this. Last Halloween I got into a discush with two chicks I happened to meet while waiting for MIA to show up for an in-store signing at Criminal and I told them I thought Pete Wentz was "a dick with a body." That shit is verbatim, son. And I stand by it.

Needless to say, I also hate MTV. If it wasn't for America's Best Dance Crew and Next (guilty pleasure, mos def), I wouldn't give that channel the time of day. But I do occasionally watch it, but not for the music, of which there is now none.

It's been like twenty years since there's been music on MTV. I have accepted it. It's okay, okay? Listening, MTV? We're on civil terms as long as the balance you've struck is carefully maintained. Your attempts at music have been few and far between and that's okay. MTV2 is alright with me. I don't know why, but something about it feels slightly alternative. Look, it's cool and that's how we'll leave it.

But why, oh why, MTV would you combine the two most unnecessary things about you (Wentz and music) in hour long block form? What the hell is this? FNMTV? I get it, it's cute. Ahahahaha. I'm laughing. You hear it?

This FNMTV thing, a study in stupidity, is hosted by Wentz, featured the new Vampire Weekend vid, and had commentary by Katy Perry and some passively pretentious music journalist. The show even lets you (sad fatty on couch wannabe music journ), review what you see. Like this girl. She knows things. Music is the new Bono. Lil Wayne ain't.

This is a problem. This is just not going to work out. I don't want to see new cutting-edge vids on MTV. There are other places I can go for that, like the Internet.

In the meantime, MTV, stick to what you're good at: being a vehicle for reality telewhores and geeky highschoolers that want to become hip hop rappers.

Kthxbai.

Yo Momma: Afghanistan

What can I say? The show is on right now and it's Sunday. Sue me. (Kay please don't actually do that. While I have a sweatshirt that says UCLA Law I don't actually have any legal background and cannot afford to be sued. Kbai). Just watch. Enjoy the lamety. I'm going to get out of the house and possibly make something of myself.

Nah, probably not. Happy Father's Day bitches.

New Season Of America's Best Dance Crew

I dunno about you, but this ish was my ish like ALLZ of last fall. I loved this show. The energy, the passion, the moves, the music, I could not complain. I also liked to pretend I was a judge and then had to tell myself (when I was getting really picky and evil) that I couldn't do what they did. Also, that I couldn't actually dance.

It took some getting used to.

Anyway, MTV got a mad response to this show because they're bringing it back after only a few months. It's like dancing. Gone crizazy. Will someone best the Jabbawockeez? Will they replace Lil Mama as a judge? Will there be more AWEsome girl groups? Will Shane Sparks ever go back to choreographing things on So You Think You Can Dance? Did Randy Jackson lose weight? Will Layla Kaleigh EVER go back to doing The Feed on G4TV?

These and more questions will be answered when the new season starts on June 19th. What's that? Sounds like a viewing party!
