I Want To Start A Community Thrift Store!

This is pretty fucking cool! Current TV never ceases to amaze me with its awesome programs. The one trend I've been noticing with these kinds of things is that the communities that people are fixing up and developing are usually some of the poorest in the city. I think that's what makes it easier, because these communities tend to be tight knit and open for help and change. That's probably why the Echo Park and Silverlake neighborhoods are more community-oriented. Because believe it or not, those areas (despite the expensive shopping) are lower socioeconomic areas. It seems like it would be a little discouraging to try to do things in more well-off neighborhoods because people have the capabilities and money to help themselves.

But my little thoughts on life aside, this is still pretty awesome and totally supports my wanting to move to Philly completely. I totally wish I could run a community thrift store. Minus the Christiness, the little bearded hipsters are so me!

You must be the change you want to see in the world.

Best Day Ever!

So today is easily one of the best days I've ever had. Oh, well, it's only started so it could go to hell in a handbasket quicker than the spread of a forest fire, but as of now, today rocks!

First I actually got a sufficient night's sleep (which neeeeever happens) and then when I went to check mail, I got some amazingness! First, my Karmaloop stuff came! (I swear those guys can ship it out in like 3 days or less, I always get mine almost immediately)

I got this awesome Obey shirt (I'm like supremely loving that brand and the fact that all its SALE stuff is still dope):

And then I got this crazy dope hoodie from my new favorite brand in existence, Tank Theory. I'm usually all about MOB or P.O.P. but Tank Theory is kinda the shiznat. Peep the freshness:
I totally cannot wait until it's cool enough to wear it. Gotta prepare early kiddos!

And then I also found a package from everyone's favorite Staten Islander, Jewels! You guys have to believe me when I say she is one of the nicest people...um, ever! She sent me buttons, a Bubblegum Pony's sticker, the dopest business card I've ever seen, and a Fafi card!

Easily the best day/morning ever!

I Owe Everything I Have To Sarah Morrison

I started this blog a long time ago. I had the comments up for about two weeks, realized no one was commenting, then decided to take them out. So I chugged along, just posting things I wanted to read and look at, since I had no real way of figuring out what other people wanted to read or see. One day I posted a notice about Missbehave's Miss Rap Supreme Rap Wrap Party. Then I went to Missbehave and was shocked.

I had a shoutout! From Sarah Morrison herself! She was blog-stalking me! And admitted it! I couldn't believe it. I told her I took out the comments and she said it made me look like I was too cool for comments. Which I definitely wasn't.

Then she called me an enigma, and singlehandedly gave me an infinite amount of readers with the click of her mouse on the Submit Comment button.

Fast forward a little more and she even acknowledged my birthday! Truly, this blog is possible because Sarah Morrison gave me so much unintentional free press. So thx girl.Really!

Now in her honor, everyone take this post to profess your undying and mad fandom for her! (I'm mostly talking to you Alex!) Team Morrison!

Free Press!

All press is good press! So I devoted a little section to my friends who are trying to run a life, snag a man, keep a man, cook like a British sensation, get their work published, enjoy their teen years, make Oklahoma fun, and do all that while writing some of the most awesome blogs I've ever read!

So everyone have fun in The Peach Pit! Maybe if we cross our fingers, Donna and Brandon might show up!

(PS Valentina you could TOTES join in on the action if you just made a blog already girl! :p)

100th Post!!!

Actually, this picture was easier to find than you would think.

So this is it! My 100th blog post! I never ever thought I would get to 100, honestly. When I started this blog in May, my first post was about my mad contempt for that stupid rapper Tyga. And look how far I've come! I've made friends and gotten to know people, I've learned things and even made a few blog-enemies!

You might even say that I've arrived! Well, world, here I am! And I'm taking you by storm! I wanna say super sincere thank you's to Monique, Valentina, Storey Schifter, Jtalk, Lolita Hazed, ShannonElaine, Alex, Mz. Sullivan, and all the people on Missbehave who've ever said something nice about me, my blog, or what I write in it. Oh, and to anyone who ever took the time to email me when there were no comments. And I espesh wanna say jumbo popcorn sized thanks to Sarah Morrison for being so awesome and inadvertently giving me a million more readers! Hearts, girl, hearts!

Here's to another 100 posts! I'm winning out and I'm dropping bottles on you hoes! Don't stop believing!

Knowing People

I used to be naive and kind of stupid and believe that regardless of how many people get everything in life because they know people who know people, I would win out because I was getting everything on merit and hard work. But this isn't 1862. Hard work alone doesn't get you shit. You have to have connections.

There are girls who get to go to amazing parties, meet incredible people, do ace things...for no reason but who their parents are. Yeah, maybe if my aunt was Anna Sui I would be singing a different tune. But as it stands, I tried to get a really good job based on what I knew.

Currently, I am unemployed. All my friends are working two jobs. Because of who they know. One friend got a high paying job at a Japanese daycare center because her mom used to teach there. My other friend does audits for an insurance company because his friend hooked him up.

Hell, I got an awesome internship at the now (sadly) defunct 99X radio station because I knew a guy working there. I didn't have to apply for the position or anything, and I got free run of the station. It was amazing.

But there are like a ton of chicks out there who are amazing, rad, ace women with incredible things to say and do. But life is not about what know, it's about who you know.

And these ladies don't know a goddamn person.

Like, Awwwww!

Yesterday, while I was up watching Metalocalypse on Adult Swim (duh), I got this email on my Blackberry. (Yes, I had to mention I have a Blackberry. YES, it makes me better than you, stop asking)

I actually enjoy your blog. I didn't know you have a blog until I decided to click on your name thing (free promo bitchesss, take note) on missbehave like a week ago : ). I look forward to what you have to say. Whoo!
Monique

Well I don't know Monique personally, but I've offish decided that she's rad. Are people really reading this blog? And enjoying it? I would have never dreamed. Nobody else listens to me, except my boyfriend, but I think he just nods his head and tries to fast forward to when I stop talking and we have sex. ANYWAY, this just makes me happy. I hope people read this and agree or disagree, but I hope it starts something.

Sorry no one can leave comments, but I am far too cool and busy to deal with comments. I learned that from another rad chick.

So yep. Thx.
